After multiple trial and errors, I can’t seem to find where the extended album template that is used by default comes from inside the nexgen install. I want to make some changes to the template so it formats information in a way useful to our site.

I have tried the nggallery folder inside our theme along with a album_extended.php file from the views folder as suggested in the documentation. It never works for me. I always get the dreaded “images not found” comment on the page. Since this doesn’t work, I am trying to use the default template that nexgen uses to see if I can make the changes there first, then copy the file to the nggallery folder in our theme to integrate the template.

Our site is https://www.briohomes.net/portfolio On this page I am trying to display the galleries, so that the description for each gallery lists facts about the property we are showcasing. Facts that we would want are, Description, Square Footage, Year Built, etc. I need to build a template ultimately that accomplishes all of this. I am using albums to categorize the work.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

@jmatthi – The plugin does not have any sort of “add custom field” to the display functionality. You might be able to create a custom template (as well as potentially a great deal of additional code) to display information like you are describing but it might be just as easy to use the description field(s) to show these details as well.

As it is, you appear to have found the NextGEN Legacy template by noting the specific album-extended.php file name … and also appear to understand the ideas behind where to save custom templates as well to help ensure they are also update safe.

As it is … NextGEN Legacy templates are bundles in this folder:
    ../wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view/

“Default” templates (not recommended to modify) are located in each display module’s folder in its respective \templates\ folder.

    Thanks!
