BTW, don’t worry about the ones outside of your child theme style.css file. And you may find it helpful to copy/paste that file into a text editor that will show line numbers.

After reading other posts… I think I may need to reword my issue.
Here goes.

I am building my website from a twentyten – child theme.
https://www.canadianmacedonianplace.com/
The wrapper is 100px wide.
The menu and footer are 940px wide.
I would like my text area to be 900px wide (approx.)
That would make a border (padding?) of 20px on the left and 20 on the right.
How do I do that?

So…. am I correct,
I go to the “Twenty Ten: One column, no sidebar Page Template (onecolumn-page.php)”
and locate

<div id=”content” role=”main”>
Is it here I place
media= “all”
.one-column
#content {
margin: 0 auto;
width: 640px (or whatever number I choose)
}
Do I add the black arrow?????????

No, the CSS is ADDED to your child theme style.css file. Just this gets added there:

.one-column
#content {
margin: 0 auto;
width: 640px (or whatever number I choose)
}

No. The styles go to the style.css of your child theme. But erase that “media=all” part.

I have tried at the very bottom and nothing happened!

You’re not using a class called “one-column” on the home page (if that’s what you’re referring to) & by default put your CSS at the bottom of the stylesheet.

Please have patience with me….

See where I copied and placed this code – at the very bottom of the css (I made the with 900px) …. nothing has changed.
