Hello, when will you add alipay option in your plugin?

We have activated Alipay payment option in Stripe dashboard. Our company is based in Hong Kong. But inside WooCommerce Stripe Gateway plugin in the latest checkout process, I cannot choose Alipay, there is no Alipay option to choose. I can only choose Alipay in the legacy checkout experience. But once alipay activated in the legacy checkout experience, during the payment testing, I will receive an error, that this integration is not supported by Stripe.

    Hi @kakenaray,

We have Alipay as an additional payment method available already as you can see here. I just tested this on one of my test sites and I was able to activate this payment method even using the new checkout experience, so it’s odd that it’s not working for you.

Can you please make sure your WooCommerce, Stripe for WooCommerce, and WordPress versions are up to date? Additionally, can you confirm that your webhooks are properly set up as per our documentation?

Kindly share screenshots of your setup so we can learn more.

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, here are a few free options:

    Hello Omar,

Sorry, I have not received any notifications after your response.

I have activated the Alipay option in the Stripe Dashboard. However, I don’t have the option to enable Alipay in the new checkout experience (screenshot attached). Although the Alipay option appears under “Get more payment methods,” clicking the button redirects me to my Stripe dashboard, where Alipay is already activated. Screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1wUM1kEbF9oqJ8W23HXwSBC6rZ69S1YhO/view?usp=sharing

In the legacy checkout experience, the Alipay option is available to select, but when activated, it doesn’t work during payment testing. We receive an error from Stripe indicating that we need to use the latest Alipay integration. Screenshot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14M_LvX7RLuOUnYHYekZbglV-GBYKGCgw/view?usp=sharing

I also tried using the “Payment Plugins for Stripe WooCommerce” plugin from another organization, where I could activate the Alipay option without issues.

Therefore, I conclude that the WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway plugin does not support the Alipay option in the new checkout experience. As shown in the screenshot, I don’t have the option to enable it.

    Please help me with that.

    Hi @kakenaray

Thank you for sharing additional details.

I’ve conducted a test on my site, where I’m using the new checkout experience. I was able to see and enable the Alipay option, which also appeared on the checkout page.

As our documentation suggests, Alipay should work properly whether you’re using the new checkout experience or the legacy one.

However, to help us troubleshoot your issue further, could you share more details? Specifically, I’m interested in your business location, currency, and other factors as outlined here:

In the meantime, you can run a conflict test to help you identify the cause of the issue. More info: https://woocommerce.com/document/how-to-test-for-conflicts/

Let us know how that goes for you. Looking forward to hearing from you!

We are based in Hong Kong. And default currency is Hong Kong Dollars. But we also can sell in Chinese Yuan. But still alipay option is not available in your plugin. I suppose I will use another plugin.

You can see that in the new checkout experience, I cannot choose Alipay. Even though it is activated in our Stripe dashboard. https://prnt.sc/sw412744tY9w

Thank you for reaching back, clarifying things further @kakenaray .

Since additional payment methods are region-specific, they will only display if the site is accepting payments in a supported currency.

While HKD (Hong Kong Dollar) is supported, RMB (Chinese Yuan) is not, I’m afraid. The related documentation, from Stripe, can be found linked here, for reference.

Moreover, the Requires currency notice is visible for some other payment options at the store.

Moving forward, best to test with only the HKD set in WooCommerce settings and the multicurrency plugin/functionality temporarily deactivated, and see if the issue persists, or otherwise.

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know.

    We’re happy to help.

    Hello,

I need Alipay because I am targeting customers from Mainland China. I don’t need Alipay for other currencies except CNY.

In the link you shared, both CNY and HKD are listed as presentment currencies: https://prnt.sc/URSZw03nKJQ0.

I don’t understand why multicurrency should be an issue with your plugin.

    Hey, @kakenaray!

To confirm, is Stripe on test or live mode on your website?

Furthermore, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi @kakenaray,

Doing some research, it seems this is related to this bug: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-gateway-stripe/issues/3105, since you mentioned it isn’t available with the new checkout experience.

At the time being, we can’t give you an estimate for when the team will look into or fix the issue, as bug reports are prioritized based on a few criteria. Please subscribe to the GitHub issue if you’d like to receive updates.

    Thanks!
