    Around Halloween we started to get credit card declined for EVERY square transaction. When our users choose the PayPal option, their order goes through. When they choose square every card is declined, even though those cards worked previously (test orders).

    something fishy shows up with little red x next to the fields when entering billing ccard info. While we can enter it, the red x seems out of place (new).

    The error message was that we had to reconnect Square plugin to fix… we did that. Still no ccards can go through.

    Thats really odd. We had major integrations issues with Square and Paypal with our printing website Catdi Printing as we moved to incorporating to the e-commerce sphere. With Sqaure we didn’t get much in terms of support with our woo issues with Square but… i would checkout Payment Depot as alternative as well as Authorize.net but its a little more of headache but it was worth it for us.

    Yes, definitely. Can you setup your SSL on your WordPress with for example: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/really-simple-ssl/

    **Also: Before you do that, please do make a full backup!**

    Any chance we can get an updated opinion or advice on why all cards are getting declined on our site? It’s been over a week and we still can’t use the Square checkout despite reinstalling the plugin per previous error message advice. – thanks

    I would next enable logging under WooCommerce > Settings > Payments and select Manage next to Square. Then at the bottom of those settings you’ll see a checkbox to enable Logging.

    Then if any errors are logged you’ll find those under WooCommerce > Status > Logs tab. There will be a Square log for every day that logging is enabled. Pick the appropriate day to find that days logs.

    Keep note that first you have to setup SSL on your hosting side before installing plugin. The plugin just configures SSL on your wordpress site but does not actually install the SSL certificate. This is done via your web host like Godaddy first before installing Really Simple SSL plugin.
