• Today, every comment anyone has left on my blog has completely disappeared. In addition, it takes me about 10 tries to get into my admin dashboard today. I keep getting an error page. Is this some kind of larger issue going on, or is it just me? It’s weird because if you go on my blog home page, it shows links under each post that say “3 comments” for example, but when you actually click on the post and scroll to the bottom, all of the comments are gone. Also, in my dashboard, when I click on comments, it shows 0. I’m so frustrated, because I am completely not tech-savvy.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – repairing your database.

I Have the same comments problem too. Also, I don’t have wordpress feeds on my admin page.
    examples:

    WordPress Blog
RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Couldn’t resolve host ‘www.ads-software.com’

    Other WordPress News
RSS Error: WP HTTP Error: Couldn’t resolve host ‘planet.www.ads-software.com’

Is Yahoo your host? Because, they are currently experiencing database problems.

@tbolot – Yes, yahoo is my host. Good to know!

@esmi – Thank you for the suggestions. I really appreciate it.

Hopefully it’s a yahoo issue that will be resolved, then.

It seems to be an issue with Yahoo blocking Akismet, perhaps?

Sadly, I pretty much have not clue what any of this means. That’s how lame I am… LOL, but at least I think it points me in the direction of the problem.

Just got of the phone with Yahoo. They are still doing their data update. It is going slow because it caused some problems, like the one we are experiencing now. They said it could be another 8 hours before this is resolved. The url to check yahoo status is https://www.ysmallbizstatus.com/
    or https://www.status.smallbusiness.yahoo.com

Thanks so much! I’m just so glad to know I didn’t screw something up myself, because that’s usually how it pans out. ??

It’s working now. Sometime last night or early this morning Yahoo fixed their database. My website is finditandmore.com, what is yours?

Mine are still not back. Akismet is working again, but I still have 0 comments.

Also, I’m getting dozens of email notifications that I’m getting comments, but they’re all blank and when I’m logged in it still shows zero.

The emails can be turned of by going to your wordpress management then going to settings then discussion and click off the boxes in the email me whenever section. You might be able to get the comments back by going to your yahoo management opening the MySQL Database and clicking the repair database link. that’s what I did and got more comments back up on my site.

Thank you! That did it! My comments are back now. I really appreciate all of your help!

    You are welcome.
