All entries are showing even when they are not approved :(

I can’t seem to get the entries to NOT show. I wanted to ONLY show entries in the front end that are completed… I have selected the option for them to be manually approved first and the red crosses show in the back end. But the directory still shows all entries…
Does anyone monitor this forum as so far I have posted a few thuings and never had any response.
I know there is a premium support function but this doesn’t seem like a $100 question and surely this should work out of the box as expected?
