We have been using the Guest Author Plugin with html code in the Author description field for hyperlinks and formatting. All this html code has disappeared and if I re-enter it it is removed by saving the post.

Is this related to your latest update or an intentional change?

    Hi,

Yes, to improve security we are now parsing the field data through sanitize_textarea_field so HTML will be stripped. Sorry for the inconvenience ??

This is done is guest-author.php around line 264. If you prefer to use a different sanitization function you can change it there.

@talextech – Have you considered adding an editor with formatting options and links of any kind there?

We don’t believe that it was correct to do so, especially without warning, because we’ve been using your plugin for many years now and have many guest posters with links in the description. You can imagine the mess it has created. If we were to modify your code, it would lead to it getting overwritten upon your next update. And, if we were to fork your plugin, it means we’d have to take care of it and we have lots and lots of our own to manage.

We hope you can consider the above and add back HTML compatibility.

    Thank you in advance!

We will try to do something in the next update, but at the moment we’re swamped with some other work, so I can’t give you any dates, sorry ??

No worries, totally understand :)! Thanks for your willingness to do something about it!
