The Add Media window shows only blank thumbnail squares, no images in the squares.

I installed the plugin and tried looking at the folder structure. I disable “organize files by month” (except there’s one month folder from when the website was created), but when I clicked the Uploads folder it spun awhile then showed No Files Found. When I checked the on month folder they all appeared. That seemed strange, but moving on.

I next tried to add a media to a post using the normal Add Media button, but when the Add Media window opened there were blank thumbnail squares, no images in the squares. I tried uploading an image but it too was blank. When it was inserted in the post it was also blank.

I tried resetting the database but that didn’t help. Now I’ve disabled both programs but I still can’t see any of the thumbnails when using the Add Media, though they are visible when viewing the Media Library through the Dashboard. Even for the PDFs in the library there isn’t an image but the title shows.

Also just found out that I can’t Upload any images anymore through Add Media, I get html error, but I can upload through Media Library. And even though images I add show as blank in the Post Editor, they do appear in the user-facing post.

Is there anything I can do to recover the Upload Media functionality? I was going to found that my database backup program isn’t working properly so it turns out I don’t have a database backup to restore with.

You should not change the “organize files by month setting”. You still nee that. And your files are not magically moved to the uploads folder by turn off the setting. Turn it back on and you should have access to your files.

I just tried turning on “organize files by month” but it doesn’t fix the problem. Is there something, anything else I can do to restore the thumbnail connections to images in Add Media? I guess you don’t understand that I turned off the “organize files by month” setting 3 years ago, and that was the setting when I installed your plugin.I don’t like hunting for files in hundreds of folders but the list in Uploads is getting long, so I tried your plugin to make it easier to work with images, now I’m stuck.

FTP shows all the files are in Uploads, but apparently the plugin has reset the database such that it thinks they’re all in the 2015>08 folder. Is there a way to undo that reset?

Regardless of whether you can or cannot suggest a way for me to fix my problem, you really should put a serious warning that your plugin REQUIRES that “organize files by month” be turned on. Unless this can be fixed, it has basically hosed a 3 year old website for our organization.

It seems that the paths to your images in the database are stored using ‘http’ while your site is using ‘https’. This is the cause of your images not appearing, not Media Library Folders. Somehow you have to update the image links in the database from ‘http’ to ‘https’ and then your images will appear.

I did as you suggested. I had to wait until late to do this it I wouldn’t disrupt traffic, but now that it’s done the images are back, so you are absolutely right.
I guess it was bad timing that the https security kicked in at the same time I used your plugin, even though it was initiated a couple of weeks ago.
Thanks for your help, and sorry if I caused you trouble,
