    Hi,

Recently, when trying to pin my images from the entire site, I’m given the error message “images are broken, please pick another image.”

The images appear fine on my blog, they are clickable and show up in images to be pinned, but after trying to add them to any board, they will not work. Also, when I try to pin them to a board, they show up as a square, instead of the traditional rectangle pin size, even when they were previously formatted as a “pin”.

I recently added the “Shareaholic” plugin and the WP-Recipe maker, so I’m not sure if there’s a conflict with a plugin, but I have deactivated and reactivated all of my plugins to try to figure out the issue. I’ve also checked my media library to make sure that the image labels are correct.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as I have minimal coding experience. Thank you, Sara

  • If you go to https://www.pinterest.com/pin-builder/ and type in one of your URL’s, one gets back a “no images found on page”.

Who is your web host? Have you tried to contact them for help? Maybe they are blocking requests from Pinterest? It is worth asking them.

I use siteground. I tried their help desk, and have since:

Reset permissions for files/folders, updated siteground’s optimizer for compressed images, load time, and caching, cleared browser history, updated, deactivated and reactivated all plugins one by one, tried on multiple devices. I updated my library to include alt text and titles.

Siteground suggested I reach out to Pinterest, and I’m waiting to hear back.

When I reset permissions for the file/folders through the siteground site tools, I was able to pin one image, and thought it was working, but immediately after it stopped working again.

I removed Shareaholic, installed a thumbnail regenerator, and removed and replaced my images. For the most part now, the images are working normally.

@mrssaragerdes would you mind re-enabling Shareaholic so I can take a look at what the difference is to narrow down the issue? Would really appreciate it.

@mrssaragerdes +1 would like to take a look. Our guess is that regenerating the thumbnails likely solved it.

It would be good to get Shareaholic working as we use a similar mechanism as the official Pinterest bookmarklet. If it doesn’t work with our code, it likely not going to work with another cohort as well who may have one of Pinterest’s extensions.

Sure thing, I’ve reinstalled Shareaholic for you to check. I was previously using a different pinning plugin, but as you said, the issue remains regardless of plugin. Even now, only some of my images will pin correctly, and stays despite me changing them…so not really sure where to go from here. The issue has gotten better, but I can’t tell what I did to make some work correctly, and some not work.

Hi @mrssaragerdes have you cleared SiteGround site caches?

    https://www.siteground.com/kb/clear-site-cache/

Assuming you’ve regenerated all your images and cleared the site caches, which image still comes back as “images are broken, please pick another image”?

Everything seems to be working fine now, yesterday was 50/50. Thanks!

    Woohoo! ??
