All my pages are “Page 404 Not Found”!!!!

  • Hi everyone. I am a brand new wordpress user, and am already running into a really big problem.

    All of the links to my posts and pages are broken. The home page loads and looks fine, but if you click on a post, it goes to a 404 error. When I preview the post prior to publishing, I get the page just fine. That URL has “preview” in it.

    My website is: https://cogitoergoamo.com. You will see that the home page loads fine, but click on the post title or “Continue Reading” after the post and you will get the error.

    I am using a free theme called Charlene, but it was the same issue with any theme. I am guessing that there is a disconnect in communication between WordPress and my website host (iPage) and I just don’t understand enough about web development to know what to do or where to look.

    What are your permalink settings at Settings/Permalinks in the admin panel?

    They are set month and name. Is that the default? I have not changed these.

    I really feel that it could be something with my site host who is also hosting my domain. I just don’t understand enough about the relationship between wordpress and my host site to know how to fix it …

    Is that the default?

    Nope. Try visiting Settings -> Permalinks and setting them back to Default. Do links then work?

    If so, try setting Permalinks back to what they currently are again. When you save them, check the bottom of the screen to make sure there are not messages or warnings there.
