All my plugins have disappeared, which is bizarre because they were present and working last night. When I try to reinstall, I get an error message saying the installation failed because they are already installed. My plugin page says I have no plugins installed.

I only had three plugins: VaultPress, Contact Form 7, and a gallery plugin.

I found an identical topic discussion from three years ago, and it recommended scanning the site with sucuri. I did, and the site apparently has NOT been hacked. Is this the result of upgrading to 4.3?

    Site is: semicool.com

  • Open up an FTP client and navigate to wp-content/plugins and ensure the folders for your plugins are there. If they are you can try removing the plugins (simply delete the folders) and navigate back to the plugins page in your WordPress admin dashboard. Then try re-adding your plugins.

Better to rename the plugins folder plugins.hold which will deactivate them. You can then easily re-activate them by deleting the .hold
Though with only 3 plugins I suppose it’s not too much trouble to reload them.

Thank you SO MUCH! Your suggestion worked as advertised.

Best of all, it forced me to figure out how to access the WordPress files on my hosting site — which I’d never done before. I’m learning… ??

    Again, a million thanks.

    You are very welcome.
