  • I cannot bring that upgrade page up. this bug affects the whole live site. Same error page loads for admin

You do NOT need to log in. Use your web browser to go to https://luxurysauna.co.uk/wp-admin/upgrade.php

Can you login into your hosting provider, run file manager and browse to the root of your website. Look for error_log and open that. Scroll to the bottom and look for current errors.

My site went down with a number of database connection errors which I fixed by rolling back to 4.9.1 for now. You may have different errors which will suggest what plugin or theme might be causing your issue.

@esmi when I go the the url: https://luxurysauna.co.uk/wp-admin/upgrade.php

it tells me that wp already upgraded. Clicking on continue just leads to the same error page ??

I took a quick look at LuxurySauna and what I see displayed is Revslider errors and endurance-page-cache.php errors.

I use Revslider on my sites so is it possible that you’re using an old version that’s not compatible with the latest upgrade. The same might apply to endurance-page-cache. Unfortunately I can’t tell for sure.

I downloaded wordpress 4.9.1 and replace my wp-admin and wp-includes and root files (basically what you did above) and this takes you back to the previous version. If it works it will get you running enough you can troubleshoot and make sure your plugins are up to date.

Another way to approach this is to move /revslider from /plugins to /uploads temporarily as this will cause wordpress to disable this. Once your site comes back up you can move it back to plugins, just don’t activate it.

endurance-page-cache.php can be moved the same way. But remember to move it back to /mu-plugins. This is unusual since it looks like the developer had a reason to make this a required plugin.

I’m going to guess that moving these plugins out might bring your site back up, although somewhat broken, but at least enough to get into wp-admin and start fixing. Or at worst it might give you more error messages.

Sorry I can’t be more help on this one.

    Thanks @vasseurb

I’m going to try it. Wish me luck!

I reinstalled previous WP version, but still the same issue.

Also I am using the Rev slider in the site itself, so I’m worried if I deactivate it all my hard work will be lost.

And still can’t get into the admin area.

This is a very tricky situation.
