• I spent much of today adding pages to a WordPress site I’m building for a client. I came back to the site and got a message saying I didn’t have permissions to view pages – even the login page. Also no page links were displaying on the site, which was still visible… only the front page.
I tried logging in with Chrome instead of Firefox, and got into the back end okay, but there were no pages listed in the admin interface. However it shows that there are 11 pages after Published, including a test page I loaded. Below that, though, it says “no pages found.”

I’m stymied here. Clearly one part of the site “sees” that pages were published. How can I make them reappear?

  • Do you have a recent database backup? Have you tried repairing the database?

I just set up the site, so haven’t backed up the db. I’m not completely sure how to access phpmyadmin, so I’ve emailed support requesting help. Do you think that’s the problem?

From what I can recall, the content for Pages is stored in a separate table from the total number of published Pages. Sounds like these are no longer in sync – suggesting that something untoward might have happened to the db.

In the meantime, try deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

You could also try switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems (although I think that’s unlikely).

Thanks. No plugins activated yet, so that’s not the problem. Changing themes doesn’t make a difference. I’ll try a db rebuild as soon as my host tells me how.

    Table repair worked, thanks!

    I had the same problem,
but deactivating the plugins solved it.

    thanks a lot
