All pages dissapeared

I would like to ask you for an advice. I am trying to understand something, possibly a silly problem (as I am just a beginner).

Here is the problem:
My collegue created new web earlier in december and when we returned to work this month, ist appearence changed. He literally did not do anything. There are no pages. They all dissapeared – the list is empty. The web has different form now and works as draft for some reason. Link changes as well and after the address, there is /wp/draft/ now.
We tried to disable all plugins with no solution.
Another problem is that he forgot to create child theme. I think that it might be caused by automatic updates during our absence (because it worked fine when we left). But i dont know.
What might be the cause? Is there a way to restore those pages? (Backup recovery changed nothing in case of missing pages). Any ideas?
