All pictures disappeared after renaming!!

I am having the same problem. Older images that I really required are now whited out and gone when I attempted to change the image name. Those ones don’t show up anymore on my website pages. New ones that I attempt to change the image name just white out the Media Library picture.

Please fix ASAP

I’m sorry but everything is running fine on my test and production sites, can you tell me which theme and plugins are you using?

I’ll create a development server to test your configuration and find the conflicting plugin.

I just released version 2.2.2 that fixed an issue with media file organized in subfolders, let me know if this resolve your issues.

If the problem persists: can you tell the complete list of theme and active plugins are you using? I’ll create a development server with the same components to try to replicate your issue.

I have 2.21 currently and my wordpress through GoDaddy is not showing your 2.2.2 version update option.

My problems started after I did the 2.21 version update.

Should I remove your plugin and do a reinstall?

I have a few whited out media library images that I want back and do not want to loose. I am scared to remove 2.21

I wish the 2.22 version was just there for me to update.

Please advice me what to do

Any new images that I bring into my Media Library I am now able to rename- thank you!

20 percent of my old images that I still have to rename I can not.

File renaming error! comes up in a little red box to the right of where you change the Filename

My images are not whiting out anymore. U solved that problem.

Hi @curtisswischuk,
check, using ftp or some other tool to access the file system, if there are already files with the name your trying to use, this is, usually, the cause of the renaming failure.

If this is not your case, let me know and I’ll try to reproduce the issue and resolve it.

hi @crossi72 i’m also experiencing the same problem. The retitle does work but the rename does not. It says file renaming error. I have checked into the image folder using filezilla but no file with that name. So I don’t think duplicate name is the problem. I hope you can fix this problem as well.

No there is a problem.

I have tried all kinds of new file names that I know that are not being duplicated.

I do not understand how I can rename newly acquired images and not my old ones

It seems that ALL my Media Images have a virus or something after the 2.2.1 version was released. I lost a few of my images when I tried to rename them as they whited out.

With the 2.2.3 version my images from yesterday and today can be renamed but I can’t rename anything else in my existing media library.

It is absolutely impossible for me to replace my Media Library images.

Now my Rank Math plugin is not working properly with your plugin revision.

I can’t work on my Focus Keywords. I can’t add anything as it is just frozen up.

I use Rank Math all the time on my 31 page site. I love the Rank Math plugin and it had zero issues.

I am wanting to redirect a few things to my homepage with Redirect that is not Activated but is used in my Rank math. I can redirect to different pages in my website not my home page.

This is something else that has happened.

I don’t know Rank Math but tomorrow I will install it on a development server and check for compatibility issues.

I fear that the file rename error can be due to some bug in version before 2.2.2 that caused some inconsistence in media metadata, can you send me a backup of your database (only wp_posts and wp_postmeta tables, to preserve your site security) at [email protected] so that I can check your metadata for media files?

If I remove your plugin with all my image names revert back to the original names? I presume that they will.

If I reinstall your program I could rename all my images. This will be a lot of work.

I believe it was when I updated to 2.2.1 that my images whited out and a bug as you say entered my whole media library and my Rank Math plugin.

How do we fix what the 2.21 did to other plugins like my Redirect and Rank Math?

I just have 1 post and a 31 page website. I have 200 images in my Media Library. 30 of them still need to be renamed but your latest 2.2.2version will not work on those older photos. I do not know how do do or get a backup of my database.

I do not have a 3rd party back plugin. I use GoDaddy for the backup that they have.
