All posts have ???published in places

All the posts on my wordpress site are displaying ??in many areas of the posts. The site upgraded recently to latest wordpress version. I am not aware of these issues before that. Inspecting the source at areas of ? reveals that
has been autoinserted in those areas. I have not activated any new plugin and deactivating old plugins also does not make it go away.-

FYI I have done all advised in the ‘Read First’ post.

I even did a database restore from one month back and it does not fix it.
