All Private Pages Gone

  • Yesterday we noticed that all the pages we had set to private were gone. Not in the trash, completely gone. We cannot find a record of when or who deleted the pages or emptied the trash. We would like to get the pages back but also want to know how those pages might have gotten deleted. These pages were there last week but yesterday they were gone with no record of them existing. Also trying to find a contact for support so I can get an answer and not just post to a forum is a pain. How does someone contact support directly?

    There is no “support” in the sense you’re asking. No phone number, no paid support staff. WordPress is free software, freely shared to you, and the support is from the community. If you need the help of a developer, that’s up to you. (I recommend that you check with your local WordPress meetup to meet several.) On the other hand, if you want some real-time help from volunteers, there are folks on IRC.

    Anyhow, assuming the posts/pages are truly deleted, you could restore from a backup prior to that event. If you’re not doing your own backups, check with your host as they may be doing so.
