    Good afternoon,

I’m currently having an issue with my main menu in tablet and mobile version.
It is displaying all the menu and submenus in one continuously long menu. I have to scroll for so long just to get past the menu.
In the desktop version the submenus just appear as a drop down.
How do I change the menu setting for tablet and mobile version so it doesn’t display the sub menus?

    Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @konnichiwajapan!

There isn’t a built-in way to change the default design of the menu on tablets and mobiles. It would be possible to achieve the effect you’re after with JavaScript code, however, that goes beyond the scope of support we provide via this forum.

If you’re interested in experimenting, I found the following guides that may help. They contain information on plugins and how to borrow code from other themes to achieve what you want:

Twenty Seventeen’s menu works in the way you described on tablets and mobile, so you could download that theme and take a look at its code:

If you’re not comfortable experimenting with plugins or code to achieve what you’re after, then perhaps you could consider removing the dropdown menus from the main menu and instead moving them to a menu widget in the sidebar? That way, you wouldn’t need to scroll through them all on mobile.

    Wow that’s ridiculous @siobhyb.

I’m at a new organization and got stuck working on one of their sites that uses a child of this Sela theme. I don’t know why the original developer picked this theme, but I’ve been frustrated over-and-over again.

I found this post after searching for “mobile menu” in this support forum because I have the same issue…..a LONG ASS menu that doesn’t hide/nest/collapse sub-menus.

OP, what was your workaround? I’ve tried SlickNav and WP Mobile Menu but they don’t seem to fit the theme just right. I’ll probably try Max Mega Menu (overkill–just to resolve this one issue) next, and then move on to digging through code >:(

EDIT: Just noticed that you sent a link to a tutorial that you have to pay for…..that’s great!! ??
