All text smooshed together in Editor? header.php, footer.php

  • I went to edit my header.php and it’s all crunched together, no line breaks (?).

    Anyone know how to stop this from happening?
    Seams to happen to me a lot.

    Something to do with Notepad or Wordpad, maybe?
    I sometimes open in with them and paste it in, is there some setting in Notepad or Wordpad that’s causing this?

  • Do not edit .php files in a word processor such as Wordpad. Only use a plain text editor such as NotePad.

    Yah, I’m pretty sure I did use just Notepad, but maybe I did open it in Wordpad at some point.

    Weird, because when I edit some themes, and try to open it in Notepad, it will be all crunched, then I open it in Wordpad, and it has all the breaks.

    I’ve even run into this problem: when I go to save in Notepad, suddenly all the breaks disappear, and it’s crunched.

    Personally I use TextPad and couldn’t manage it without it.
