Hi there,
I’m sorry you had a negative experience – I’ll try my best to address your concerns.
For example, I need to replace the published date with last modified but it just can’t be done.
If you go through generetepress support the solution will either not work, or they ask to add css code. Now this may seem to be working buy google will never update or show last updated date.
Showing the updated date is definitely possible, but it does take a little code to accomplish as of right now. We try our best to provide as many options as possible without bloating the theme, but we are looking at adding some more date-related options to help with issues like this.
When it comes to Google showing the date, it really depends on them. All the theme can do is display the date and include the necessary structured data (both things GeneratePress does by default). Once that’s done, it’s 100% up to Google. This page has some good insights into this issue: https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/87239/how-to-update-the-date-on-google-search-results
If you really dip deep you find of all different solutions almost none of them work with effect on both front and backend of the webpage. The one solution that do work is of adding custom php filter that too bring new problems such as a large graphiti/logo of author with the text “last updated”.
I’m not too sure what you mean here – perhaps you tried some code we provided that was specific to one of our users? If you want to use the filter method to show only the updated date (some users have had better luck with this when it comes to Google), this is the code you want to use: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/generate_post_date_output/#only-show-updated-date
One of the great things about our support forum is that you can find the answers to your questions without having to ask them. Of course, sometimes it’s necessary to post your own questions, especially if the solutions you’re finding aren’t helping with your specific issue.
You cannot not find any working solution nor the support staff helps. All they doo is to refer this post, this answer, this and that and at last none of them work.
We do our best to help with every question we get. Sometimes, when possible, we will link to past support topics which we believe will help. Of course, if they don’t help, we’re more than happy to work to find a solution specific to you. We’ve never left any of our users in the dark, and we never will.
Sorry again that you had trouble with the theme, I hope you find something that works for you. If you have any questions or need any help, we’ll be here ??
