• I’m trying to grant a user the ability to moderate all comments without being an Admin.

When I grant them the “moderate_comments” ability it only allows them to moderate comments on posts they have made, not on all posts.

    Any ideas?

  • Are you using a plugin or theme with some user roles and capabilities functionaily? In WP by default a user who has the role of Editor can approve comments from any post.

Yeah I’m using the members plugin by Justin Tadlock.

Editor is almost exactly what I want except it allows the person to delete other peoples posts.

I might have to change the user to editor and leave people open to deleting other posts..

There are plugins that add functionality like limiting the default users capabilities so it is possible with plugins (and if so daring editing core files) to alter the capabilities of users per user.

yeah i’m using one of those plugins but it doesn’t seem like it’ll let you allow them to moderate all comments without also giving them the ability to mess with other peoples posts. I don’t think that’ll be a problem (at least I hope not) so maybe i’ll just stick with having them as editor.
