    Hey,

I’ve been trying to let my custom user roles have access to the new data export/erasure tools in WordPress 4.9.6.

I’ve cloned both the admin and editor user roles and manually assigned the ‘erase_others_personal_data’ and ‘export_others_personal_data’ capabilities to them. No luck.

Does anyone know how I can let other user roles access these privacy tools?

    Thanks in advance!

  • WordPress has no way of doing this without writing a bit of custom code. I was thinking of building a small add-on plugin for it but wasn’t sure if enough people would need such a feature. I’ll look more into it today.

Thanks Justin, was almost going crazy over this.

I think that anyone who builds sites for others could benefit from being able to let their clients access these tools.

If you do decide to make that plugin, many thanks ??

That’s actually a good use case and not something I had thought of.

Anyway, I’ve got a working copy of the plugin on my machine at the moment. I plan to push this out as an add-on tomorrow after I’ve tested it and got everything in order.

Thank you, that is really awesome!

I meant to get back to you a few days ago with a release of the add-on, but I hit a couple of snags in development. Then, I had some offline things that got in the way.

Anyway, I just announced the first release of the add-on: https://themehybrid.com/weblog/members-privacy-caps

@terribletankard – If you use the contact form on the site to get in touch with me, I’d be happy to email you a free copy of version 1.0 just for pushing me to build this.

To anyone reading this in the future, the add-on @greenshady has made works perfectly. Thanks again Justin!
