• We’d like to create a blog, where anyone can post to it. No registration required. We’d like them to be able to be moderated though, before going up.

The idea, being a recipe exchange site. Users will get on the site – we’ll add a link off to the side that says “post your recipe.” Upon clicking, brings up the “new post” page, header, body copy, post a photo maybe, etc. Upon submitting, it will alert the Admin that they need to moderate the recipe – if all looks good, we’ll post it.

I guess the only other thing would, how could we distinguish between who posts – maybe require a Name / Email address (email addy will not be posted)

    Is this possible with WordPress?

  • Look at user roles…maybe the “contributor” role will do what you want.

The Contributor can edit/delete posts. That might turn out bad if we get a malicious person checking out the site. *edit – though, does that mean just their own posts?

Is there a way to turn off functionality in a WP blog? I’d like to set it up to where they can just post. Maybe edit their own posts.

Yes, they can just edit and delete their own posts. And their posts are only draft posts until you publish them. The best way to learn how these work is to set-up an account, assign a role, then login and test it,
