Hi, first time user with the free version of the plugin. When we are testing the auction Buy now or Bid buttons, it re-directs us to login to the site. Does this mean the auctions can only be used by people who create an account with the site? Or is there a way to allow people to bid without having to create a WordPress account with the site?

  • Hi @sunhawk,

Users have to log in/register to the admin WordPress site to place bids or buy auctions in the Ultimate WordPress Auction plugin. If the admin wants the user to bid even without an account, the admin can do it through the auction settings.

Go to Admin dashboard -> Ultimate Auction -> Settings -> Auctions ->??Allow users to bid -> Select the”?Without login as well?” option and save changes.

It will allow users to place bids on an auction without an account on a WordPress site. Users have to enter their name, email id, and bid value to place a bid on the auction page. Please review the attached video for it. You will understand how it will work.

Thank you, that video is very helpful! So that seems to be the settings for the free version of the plugin, is this option also available in the Pro version? I am using a test site of the Pro version I got from another post, using https://testdrive.auctionplugin.net and I don’t see a similar option for allow bids without login, am I looking in the wrong spot: Auctions > Settings

    Hello @sunhawk,

We have developed the Ultimate WordPress Auction Plugin based on WordPress. The option of placing a bid “Without login as well” is only available in the Ultimate WordPress Auction plugin. This functionality is not available in the Ultimate Woocommerce Auction Pro plugin.

It is required for users to log in/register to the admin site to place a bid in the Pro plugin. The Pro plugin is based on the Woocommerce plugin. So, ?Login & Registration is managed and provided by Woocommerce and that applies to auction products too.

We have purposefully developed PRO as a way so that users have to register to place their bids. Below are the reasons:

-> Proper registration ensures that people don’t place junk bids. If they do then you can block them.

-> If users were placing bids by just mentioning email and name then proper user profile and other related data were not being maintained by the plugin inside the WordPress site which poses problems inside the code and for administrators of the website.

-> Our bidding system would also not work properly without proper user account creation. It was fine for a FREE plugin to have that feature but since the PRO plugin has many features where there is a dependency of account information, it is good and mandatory to have user registration.

    Thank You
