• hi,
is there any way to allow Editors (or any similar role) access to the Transients Manager screen?

Right now it requires the “manage_options” capability. Perhaps in the future I can add a new capability that would permit editors access.

    right, ok. thanks.
yet another plugin to block updates for then.

it’s not an issue with your plugin alone, it’s something that, as developer, i happen to ask quite many times.

i understand most of the times is not easy, there may be actions that should better stay with ‘administrator’ roles, but i’d love to see (when possible) the option left to the ‘administrator’ to decide whether ‘editor’ can access settings too.

Why does the lack of editor access mean that you need to block updates to it?

i’ve modified add_management_page’s capability in transient-manager.php to allow Editor access. i thought i’d better block plugin updates to prevent loosing the hack and leave a note to other administrators about it.
i’m still looking for ways to block plugin updates whilst getting a nag about any new version available, instead of unset the response from site_transient_update_plugins
anyway, Transients is the third “unset” plugin, all of them cos Editor access was needed and achieved through hacks. some plugins allow it through filters
