Allow purge SG cache for editor role

This is an option that is already included in SG Optimizer. In order to achieve the desired result, you need to ensure that SG Optimizer is network activated.

Then, you can follow the steps below:

1. Login in your WordPress Network Dashboard
2. Go to Sites -> All Sites
3. Click on Edit for the site you wish to manage
4. Go to the Settings tab
5. Scroll down until you see the “SG Optimizer Options” section

The option you are looking for is called “Disallow Cache Configuration”. Uncheck this and the user will be given access to the Purge SG Cache button in the site Dashboard.

Do this for all of the websites you wish to grant access to the Purge SG Cache button.

I can’t find a way to do this in a single WP Installation. Please send instructions how to allow the Purge SG Cache button to be visible for ‘editors’. by default only admins can see the SG Cache button.

Rafael Medina: It is a pity. I’m going to have to find another solution to handle the cache. I have a high traffic page and 4 to 5 people who are in charge of entering data every day of the racing results. But it is very dangerous to give them administrator access when the only function they do is upload the results of the races.

Ivaylo P.: Yes, indeed. I was thinking of another way to manage the cache, but for all cases you are going to need either admin or cPanel access, and I believe this is not a real solution for your case.

That’s a shame – it’s not beyond expectations that editors will need to clear the cache – and from a security point of view it’s not wise to give everyone ‘admin’ rights.

Could you guys add a filter when you’re calling current_user_can( 'manage_options' ) so we can at least filter it to something more flexible like ‘publish_posts’.

Please excuse the delayed response. I am posting to confirm that the Purge SG Cache button will not be available for users with Editor and Author roles in your WordPress.

However, SG Optimizer is built with a trigger to purge the cache when there is an update of a page. This means that if you users make and save a change to a page on your website the cache will be flushed.
