    Hi there!

    I downloaded & installed your plugin on a clients website, seems to work great!… Just a quick question about it.

    The reason why I chose your plugin opposed to the many others is because of the “Allow Search Bots to bypass maintenance” feature. With this option enabled, will the search engines crawl my website as if the maintenance page is not there and continue to index the entire website while in maintenance mode?

    I am VERY concerned that my clients SEO ranking and Bot indexing is not effected when the website is in this mode. The business the website focuses on is a very competitive seasonal business. It is absolutely important to us that we do not loose SEO and page rankings in the “off season” while we are rebuilding and adding pages to the website for next season.

    Thank you very much for this plugin…

    Looking forward to your response!

    Hello,

    Yes, if that option is enabled… the search engines bots (from the list below) can crawl the website.

    Bots list (snippet from plugin code):

    $bots = apply_filters('wpmm_search_bots', array(
                        'Abacho' => 'AbachoBOT',
                        'Accoona' => 'Acoon',
                        'AcoiRobot' => 'AcoiRobot',
                        'Adidxbot' => 'adidxbot',
                        'AltaVista robot' => 'Altavista',
                        'Altavista robot' => 'Scooter',
                        'ASPSeek' => 'ASPSeek',
                        'Atomz' => 'Atomz',
                        'Bing' => 'bingbot',
                        'BingPreview' => 'BingPreview',
                        'CrocCrawler' => 'CrocCrawler',
                        'Dumbot' => 'Dumbot',
                        'eStyle Bot' => 'eStyle',
                        'FAST-WebCrawler' => 'FAST-WebCrawler',
                        'GeonaBot' => 'GeonaBot',
                        'Gigabot' => 'Gigabot',
                        'Google' => 'Googlebot',
                        'ID-Search Bot' => 'IDBot',
                        'Lycos spider' => 'Lycos',
                        'MSN' => 'msnbot',
                        'MSRBOT' => 'MSRBOT',
                        'Rambler' => 'Rambler',
                        'Scrubby robot' => 'Scrubby',
                        'Yahoo' => 'Yahoo'
                    ));

    BUT… why would give access to the website when you work on it? The bots could crawl errors… if you’re doing something wrong.

    Perfect!… Thank you for your response and concern George. The website is fully developed and has been live for quite some time. I will simply be adding pages and need your maintenance plugin so competitors do not see what we are creating. The new pages will be unpublished initially until we are 100% confident they are error free and fully optimized. Same goes for SEO… we don’t want to show our hand as we tweak content. I need the site crawled to compare analytics before and after altering content leading up to our next season.

    Thanks again!…

    “Bypass for Search Bots : NO” means that the search engines bots can crawl the website??

    In other words,

    “Bypass for Search Bots : Yes” means that the search engines bots can’t crawl the website??

    Thank you for the very best plugin…

    “Bypass for Search Bots : NO” – means that the search bots will be see the maintenance mode page.

    “Bypass for Search Bots : YES” – means that the search bots will not see the maintenance mode page. This way they can crawl the website.

    Thank you very much.

    It is a little bit hard to undertand these phrases.
