Allow the user to choose which type to save

It can be done, but what is the reason you’d like to save totals only? PVC stores tiny bit of data, so even on heavy traffic sites it has no (or very small) impact on performance.

Ok, so you could set purge to 1 day. It would greatly limit number of db entries.

u mean filtering the entries before they are saved?

no. filtering the periods stored in db.

this would limit some plugin functionality, like yearly, monthly or weekly post wievs – depending on what you save in the db.

but i just looked deeper into PVC code – it’s not that simple. you’d probably had to disable purge (otherwise it will try to remove the data that is not available)
