allow user of particular level/role to message other user of the same level/role

I have a wordpress website where people sign up and everyone of them is assigned a particular role. Say some are subscribers, some are editors etc. Now I want to build a system such that any editor can (ONLY) message any other editor or any subscriber can send a message to any other subscriber.
Please let me know how to do it or is there any plugin to meet the demands?
