@stefanp44, do you have a particularly large database? Generally it shouldn’t go anywhere near 1 gb of memory usage.

    (@stefanp44)

    Hi,

No, for this particular website, the database is about 3,5 Mb, so a rather samll one. I set the server memory up to 1G but it is never used up. What troubles me is that one day backups were working fine and the next day I got about 30 emails daily (error notificatons), each for every one of the websites I run.

    Thread Starter Stephane PISKORZ

    (@stefanp44)

I searched several posts on the Internet. It seems that one of the recurring reasons is the MariaDB version. This website uses MariaDB 10.2.12. It is highly unlikely that the host would be ok to downgrade, so I guess I’d better wait for an update?

@stefanp44, yes that is more than likely the issue. Unfortunately there’s not too much we can do at our end. You might let your host know about the issue, and they can try to find a solution, or else switch database versions. But it seems to be a well-known issue with this version of MariaDB.

I have the exact same problem. I have spoken to my host who cannot downgrade to the older version which is running on another server where I have sites and the backups work OK. Hopefully this can be resolved soon.

@alan555 My host support came up with a solution this afternoon: if you can set up your server PHP version and activate some PHP extensions, instead of using pdo and mysql, they had me use nd_pdo and nd_mysql.

I don’t know what it means (yet) but it works, the backup is effective again.

Thank you for the solution for this ??
@alan555 could you please try to enable nd_pdo and nd_mysql instead of pdo and mysql?
Normally, these extensions could be changed from your cPanel PHP setting ??

Thanks Stefan and doungcuong96, it works ??

Great to hear that, I will inform this solution to all other users :D.
And this problem should be added to our document too!
    Thank you!
I will close this case now, if you still have any problem, please let me know!

Btw, If you find BackWPUp is useful for you, we would really appreciate if you leave a positive review and rating.
This would encourage us to develop new free features and provide free support ??
