• Hello, friends at WordPress.

    I’m having some difficulties setting up a new WordPress design site.
    There’s almost no theme working properly. The template design doesn’t show. Only shows a simple page, without sliders, images, elements and nothing else.
    For example:
    1. On themes like Sydney, one of my favourites, the slider in the beginning doesn′t show, and the only thing that appears is a “blog” look, like almost a simple Microsoft Word document, with title and paragraphs on it;

    2. On themes like Customify, there’s no images, no elements, nothing, except plain text;

    3. There’s a couple, like Bluestreet, that seems to start off well, but, after a bit of tinkering here and there (by “tinkering” I mean changing images, and creating some text) every turns static, ugly, without any kind of formatting…

    I’ve tried in other pcs, but they seem to work the same way…

    Can you help out? I need to deliver the site, and I’m a bit late…

    The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    I don’t see anything wrong with your current page. What you describe sounds more like a browser issue. Try opening your browser in “safe mode” with all extensions/plugins disabled.

    Hello Steven. The problem is that the page wasn’t supposed to be like that.
    It was supposed to had a big image on top, three textboxes side by side, and some lines of text and, on top of that it was supposed to have some images.
    Now I managed to install Sydney theme, but manually, so there’s some problem with the installer inside of WordPress… but still, that’s a major slowdown for me…

    Thank you for your feedback

    What do you mean by “install manually”?

    Please install the health check plugin and report back its findings: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/

    Sorry, but I got ahead of myself. Even with manual install the theme doesn’t work. So it is better for me to explain what I always do, and what was the expected behaviour:

    1. Go the “Themes” menu, and I choose one. Usually I click on “Preview” to see the features of that particular theme. If I like it, I install it, and make it run;

    2. The theme is installed with default effects and images. I, then, use those images to crop my custom images, and texts, to fill the site;

    3. I upload what I have, and replace one feature at a time.

    This is what I usually do, and it works. In the past, I’ve been using Sydney, Oblique and OnePress, without any issues.
    Today I find myself in a situation completelly different. I install the theme, and there’s nothing… just plain text, no images, no effects, no text boxes… just plain text, like the CSS of the design itself was blank.
    I manage to install Sydney manually, but if I change any image there, for instance, the slide bar on the homepage disappears, and I only get plain text…

    When using OnePress, they have the option to import all data from the demo, but if I start to tinkering with it, it shows plain text.
    There’s no visual effects, the images I upload are unformatted, and there’s no original design to work with.

    So, I’ve manage to work with OnePress… like I’ve said, OnePress has the tool to import all demo configuration and formatting, so I only need to change the demo images with my custom imagery.
    Still, I don’t know what has happened with wordpress – ok, I had spent 5 months without using it – but is it necessary to use an import tool, nowadays? The last time I used it – when Guttemberg was making is first appearance – I only needed to instal and activate the theme I wanted, and all the demo imagery and formats would be loaded up

    How one gets demo content depends on the theme.
