• This is almost the ultimate auction plugin. My 2 problems are:

    1. The auctions are not responsive. In 2013 having responsive themes and content is almost a necessity.

    2. I don’t like the fact that anyone can bid. It would be much better for only registered users to bid on the auctions. I can foresee many problems with this. I can see many auctions being sabotaged because of this missing feature.

    Thanks Nick for your input.
    Here are my response:

    1. Responsive – Are you having trouble with color, size of auction area on different screen sizes OR something else? Kindly elaborate on this.

    2. I agree on this. One small workaround is that admin receives alert for all bids placed. If there is any junk bid, he can cancel last bid from admin panel -> manage auctions. But once you missed the culprit bidder then you dont have any control over it.
My reason for opening it for everyone is that any site owner can use it irrespective of registered/unregistered user. I’ll look into this request.

    Cheers,
    Nitesh

    Hi Nitesh.

I guess the best way to explain the “responsive” problem is to post a video. Note that this happens only with the individual auction screens. The listing page is fine.

I really appreciate you considering adding better user management. Let’s not forget a registered is ensured by wordPress that their email address is valid, and it belongs to them.

Thanks and keep up the excellent work,
    Nick

    Nick,

Thanks for a quick video demo. I’ll see how this can be rectified.
But I hope its not a blocker or major concern.

    Cheers,
    Nitesh

I second the private bidder request. This is essential for specialty auctions where only companies / representatives from companies can participate (for example).

    Thanks,

    Hi Justin,

Work is in progress. Stay tuned for the update.

I don’t get this at all. I tried going to my auction, and when I tried to bid or buy I was taken to a wordpress login screen. I was of course logged out as admin at the time. Even tried in a different browser before ever logging in.

How does a user actually bid?

    Hi,

Sorry if you are getting confused.

Bidding on auctions can only take place by registered user of the site.
Why? To save it from being sabotaged by anyone or everyone. Lets say you as an admin has made an auction live. If it is open for everyone, then there can be possibilities of people placing junk bids to sabotage or hijack the auction.

Its best to open this option only for registered user as an admin would know his users.

    This plugin looks really promising!

Would you consider having a social media (Fb, twitter, etc) or Google connect? I think this would be a great way to verify users. An extra plus if it would auto post the bid on their wall or something.
