I definitely agree with you about those permissions. While I don’t have an ETA to offer for this right now, this is on our radar as something we’d really like to provide down the road.

In case it happens to help in the meantime, we do have some ready-to-go code that lets you display entries on a page (here’s an easy way to add this code to your site). In some cases, it can be helpful to use this approach to display an entries table on a password-protected page so that non-admin users can view form entry data.
