Alo EasyMail Newsletter potential danger?

    I am using the Alo EasyMail Newsletter plugin by:

    I was testing the newsletter system, and I do like it. However (not sure) when I did a test sign up on my own site to test it I noticed that besides adding the email to my database I seen a reference to someting very fishy.
    I seen a reference to some uk-dbblahblahblah name.

    Correct me if I am wrong, but it almost appeared that it was adding it to my database, and another one1

    my site is:
    catskillspennysaver.com

    The newsletter box is there.

    Can someone test it? (use a dummy email and name if need be)

    Then on the bottom of the screen (bottom url toolbar path just observe what is happening.

    If I am wrong…sorry.

    But if it is doing what I think it is then the author of this plugin is really shady!

  • I looked at each php file in alo-easymail.1.6.1.zip downloaded from wordpress extend and do not see anything in the code that has a 3rd party URL.

    ok, thanks Mike. I appreciate it.

    It is just the weirdest thing. If you visit the site I listed and use a dummy email to join the newsletter, as it is adding you look at the bottom of your browser and you will see that it is referencing some uk db and my wordpress db as well.

    I just thought it was very odd.

    Make sure your wordpress is not hacked.

    Also make sure your PC is not infected with a browser redirector malware infection (very common so try a scan with Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware).
