Alphabetical filter for links

Hi Sean, I do not have short term plans to add this feature. I implement new features when I get a requests from many users for the same feature and when I have enough free time to tackle such features, since I develop this plugin as a hobby. That being said, this can be changed with an appropriate donation to help support this plugin’s development.

Do you need this feature for a specific project? How many links do you have in each of your categories that you see a need to filter them alphabetically?

I added a filter functionality in the past few years, that can be displayed with the [link-library-filters] shortcode. This displayed a vertical sidebar next to your links with some filtering options. I could probably add the link filter in that dialog as a drop-down list that would either show all links, or links from a specific letter if you select it from the drop-down list.

I already use Link Library on my site (Librarians blog) for listing of libraries’ websites. Now I want to add glossary of library science terms and planned to use LL for that, rather than installing another glossary plugin (coz my web hosting size is very limited). I continue use it for glossary terms. There is only category for that: glossary.
If you could add feature to filter links with first letters in [link-library-filters] shortcode, as you suggested, it for sure helps and I will be greatful.

Hi Sean, I was able to work on the link alphabetic filter this evening and have a version for you to test. Update to the latest version of Link Library (6.3.4) and add the following shortcode to your page with Link Library:

[link-library-filters showtagfilters=false showpricefilters=false]

This will display a small section with a filter for the link name. Make a selection in that drop-down list and it will refresh the page, only showing links that start with the selected letter. The filter section can be positioned as a sidebar with a float CSS style, or any other way you like.
