    Hey all,

I have wordpress installed on one fo my domains. I want to install another wordpress database on a subfolder of the root of my domain. for eg, https://www.whatever.com/sub

WordPress is installed on https://www.whatever.com but I want to install a seperate db on the /sub

I tried setting this up (www.whatever.com/sub/wp-admin/install.php) but I get the below error:

    Already Installed
You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

I tried removing the files and re-uploading (twice with 2 different version) and also tried with 2 new db’s and user accounts…no luck. I know this works, I saw a few people with this type of setup running it.

    Is there something i’m missing?

    Thanks

    it’s a common set up
if you actually created a new database you shouldn’t get this error
    a couple of options

drop all of the tables from the new database you created (I don’t think you made a new database)

if you are really using the same database you need to change the table_prefix in your wp-config.php to something different than your root install

So odd..I deleted and created 3 different databases with different db names. Is there any way to maybe trick and bypass this step…hoping it doesn’t overwrite my current db which it shouldn’t anyway b/c the config.php is configured for the new db…im not sure if the install is pointing to my main config.php file somehow?
