• Hi all,
Yoast tells me almost all of my images don’t have an alt tag. Looking at the html output of a webpage, confirms this. “Almost”, because some (mostly the featured images) do show an alt tag.

In the media library, all images do have an alt tag!

I run latest WP version, switched off all plugins en activated the default theme (2020) (no child theme, just the default theme as is) and it still happens. So, it’s not plugin or theme related, but something in wordpress, I guess.

So, what’s going on? How can I fix this?

    Kind regards,
    Bas

    Hi Lisa,
    Thanks for your reply.
As I mentioned before, this happens with all plugins disabled. And, when I look at the html output (view source) of the webpage, I see alt””, so an empty alt tag, while there is an alt tag in the library. So it’s not a plugin issue but something with wordpress… Isn’t it?

    kind regards,
    Bas

when you look at the media library and in the database —- for the image with alt=” ” (empty) in the html source code— what is showing?

please share a url that demonstrates “missing alt text” for image

    ——————
if you have confirmed that the alternative text is showing in media library and database — then I would start with Yoast to ask about the alert about missing alt text.

are you using images from an external source?
    are you using a CDN?

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your reply; I was very busy, so didn’t have time to work on this.

Now I do… I do see the alt tag in de media library but when I open a webpage and “viw source” the alt tag is empty. So I looked in the database with phpmyadmin, but can’t find a “alt tag” (or simulair) column. Can you tell me where to look / what to look for in phpmyadmin?!

I do use a CDN, but its a other subdomain of my own domain (“static” in stead of “www”)

The funny thing is that when I disable all plugins and switch tot default theme, it still happens, so I conclude it’s not a theme- or plugin relatied problem, is it?

    Kind regards, mery Christmas!
    Bas
