    Hello

We are seeing this weird thing where just on some posts they are showing image alt tags as “<yoastmark

In code view it looks like: alt=”"<yoastmark”
we can change them in code view but in visual editor if the client tries to change them to normal seo friendly alt tags they just revert back to this and any changes are lost.

As far as i am aware nothing else changed and no plugins were installed or updated from not having this problem to it occurring.

It doesn’t seem to be on all posts and I have been unable to identify a pattern that is causing this.

Has anybody else seen this issue before or does anyone have any idea what could be causing it?

Any help appreciated or any insight from the dev team?

    Thanks very much

    Joel

  • Hello Joel,

These <yoastmark> tags are inserted when using the highlighting feature of the plugin. The little eye you can use to mark our readability advice inside the text. If they end up in your alt tags then the code added these tags there on accident. We try to err on the side of caution here, but it might go wrong sometimes.

Could you create an issue on our GitHub? We have a guide on how to create a GitHub issue. Things that really help tracking this bug is specific content that you can reproduce it with. For example, the content before and after there are <yoastmark> tags in the content.

    Anton
