    Hello,

There is a discrepancy between pasting an image from the clipboard into a post (which is then added to the media library) and the information in the media library.

When I paste an image from the clipboard (any browser, Linux, latest WordPress, self-hosted), I see an error that there is no alt-text provided. Entirely correct, this is a new, pasted image.

When I add an image to the media library directly, I see with the alt-text input box: “Leave empty if the image is purely decorative.”

This feels like a bug. Why does a pasted image (which can’t have an alt-text) NEED an alt-text, while an image added to the media library in another way doesn’t require one?

Is there a way around this, or a setting I’ve missed?

    Thank you

    Hmm, interesting.

Clicking the UNDO arrow at the top makes the image appear and the error-message goes away.

At least that helps, but still, it looks odd…
