    Hello,

We recently started to use the WebP solution from this module, however it seems to strip the alt tags from the images and as such impacting SEO and accessibility features for images. This only seems to happen for images that were already in the media library.

It’s only after I do a manual regeneration for these images that it creates things like alt text and title tags for the images attached to it again.

Any chance you could introduce a fix for this issue?

    Hi,

    Thank you for reaching out!

Imagify’s optimization process only compresses the file size of your images and does not alter or strip metadata like alt text, title tags, or file names. If your alt text is missing for WebP images generated by Imagify, it may not be due to the plugin itself. The alt text should remain consistent across the optimized and converted versions.

To further troubleshoot the issue, I recommend:

    1. Testing with a few specific images: Try uploading a new image, adding alt text, and then optimizing it with Imagify to see if the alt text remains intact.
    2. Deactivating other plugins temporarily: This will help determine if there’s a conflict between Imagify and another plugin that might be causing this behavior.
    3. Switching to a default theme: Some themes may modify how images are rendered or manage attributes like alt tags. This test can rule out theme-related issues.

Feel free to reply if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,
    Saransh
