• Can someone advise me if the following is reasonable, and if so how to approach the problem.

For teaching a class, I would like to post today’s lesson in abbreviated form before the class meets, then after the class session, put a fuller form of the post in place of the abbreviated form.

I realize I could just edit the post after the class and add the necessary information, but I would like to have the expanded form ready to post immediately after the class. Also, the fuller form would be my own teaching notes that I would need before the class.

    Thank you.

  • What you could do is first install a post expiry plugin, then when you create the abbreviated post, add an expiry date that coincides with the class date. Then create a second post with the full details but instead of publishing it, schedule it to be published as the class starts.

    esmi,

Thanks. That looks like a good approach.

One of the things I hoped to accomplish: Have the new expanded post show up in the lesson menu where the original post was. I’m not sure that’s even a reasonable thing to try to do.

Another possibility I have considered: Leave the original post and put the expanded post in the menu as a sub-item of the original post.

If I expire a post that is a menu item, will that cause a problem? (I’m using WordPress 2013 theme.)

Also, as you are a forum moderator, please advise me if I am posting to the wrong forum area. My guess is that there may be other teachers who use their site in support of their teaching.

    Thanks,
