alternative?

  • I really still like the unique idea of this plugin. Sadly it stopped working with WP 5.0 and Gutenberg. Does anyone know a good alternative? I really liked that we could overwrite default sidebars from the post edit screen. There’s no other plugin that can do this that I’m aware of.

    Nope, I ended up coding some custom logic. It’s pretty specific for my clients use case, but I might write a blog post about my “work around” some time soon. However I think it’s worth waiting for gutenberg site wide editing if you can. The widgets have already been ported to gutenberg and sidebars can now be added with the gutenberg editor as a beta feature if you install the gutenberg plugin. i expect a lot of progress to happen there.

    Thanks, appreciate the heads up / opinion. I have no real urgency on mine – might have a look as to whether https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/custom-sidebars/ might work for me in the meantime.
