Am I safe to upgrade ?

I’m fairly new to WordPress but have created a website based around a cosmetically modified Atahualpa theme (https://www.peterboroughphantoms.com) .

I would likle to upgrade but I’m terrified it will wreck the site so how likely is that to happen ?
