Amazingly versatile plugin! GREAT job. Complicated, tho.

The ONLY THING POSSIBLY giving this plugin a poor 3-star rating is that it is admittingly complicated. However, as someone who has been building websites for two decades now, I know there is NOTHING as complicated than POWERFUL PERMISSION SYSTEMS. No matter how smart you are, you’ll have your brain twisted when you try to figure out how it all works and how do I put the permission in and… UGH.

Still. If you TRULY want a detailed, down to each individual post-level control over your content, this plugin DOES IT. It has NOT been SIMPLIFIED for the generic use that “most people” need, but it actually allows very deep level customization to your content protection.

This review, btw, is genuine. Nobody approached me for it, I’m not a paid expert or anything, but I do love complications in plugins because it ads to the POWER those plugins hold.

This is definitely a pro-level plugin, however, and beginners should steer well clear of it, or at least expect a few headaches.

The ONLY THING I would like to see changed. When you pick “forms” and “add a new form” it always defaults to login form no matter which screen you click to add a new form from. There’s a number of times I’ve assumed I’m already in the registration form view trying to edit a login form, wondering how it doesn’t have all the fields in it… This was such a SMALL actual annoyance with it, everything else has to do with the fact that permission systems are VERY COMPLICATED when they are this powerful and versatile.

I hate the fact there’s a 3-star rating on this plugin, it is NOT A FAIR RATING. This plugin is still widely used, and that is saying something. Usually, 3-star rated plugins are near unusable for the simple reason they don’t work, this one just needs a LOT OF THINKING to make the permissions work, at least… And yes, it may seem, if you’re in a hurry, that it doesn’t work, but yes. It works. Just persist and accept you might be a little green or dumb. ?? (It’s a good way of dealing with computer systems, let go of your ego, people. ?? I’m a life coach blogger now, so… There’s a tip on how to not let computers irritate you so much you can’t finish your work…)
