Amazon Link Engine Effect on PreExisting Links
-
I’m based in the US and I have a WordPress blog full of my affiliate links to the US Amazon website. Then, I signed up for a Geni.us account, set up additional affiliate accounts in other Amazon country sites, put these all into my Geni.us dashboard, installed the ALE into my WordPress blog, and connected it with an API key and secret.
Next, when I go to my blog and click on one of my affiliate links, it still shows the old affiliate link as it was before I installed the ALE. Nothing appears to be different. There is no reference to Geni.us anywhere in the link. So how does a person from the UK or CA get redirected?
If that’s really all there is to it, then how do I test it? I read the testing documentation, but the examples given for testing ALE don’t match what my links look like. The testing links refer to Genius in them. But my links are the same as before ALE. I don’t get it.
And, when I put the string “&targetiso2=XX”, nothing happens. In fact, I can put any string of random characters at the end of my affiliate link and it still works. It just resolves back to the Amazon US site, regardless of what I append to it.
So, I feel like I’m missing some step in all of this.
