Me again…I’ve been trying to get some amazon affiliate ads up. Was able to place a static banner ad just fine, but have attempted to place an Amazon native ad but can’t seem to get it to work. Where it’s set currently it should be below paragraph 2.

    Thanks!

    Hi again,

I can see these ads. It was probably just a delay, which is quite common when you start using new ad codes.

You could try to center the position of the ad in the ad settings since it is currently not aligned with the rest of the content. I am not 100% if it will work because your theme is very specific. But I can look into that when you tried it using the “center” option.

Edit: nevermind now they’re there. Sorry and thanks!

Thanks for the quick response. I can see the banner ad, the one that says “shop. Connect. Enjoy” and needs to be centered, but I cannot see the native ads that should also be there. They should contain dynamic content served by Amazon.

For some reason the static ones are also chopped off at the bottom on my secondary pages and no amount of monkeying with the settings and spacing seems to help, though that’s probably why they got off center.

Sorry, I did indeed not count the paragraphs.

I can see the Amazon ad code and that it is not executed. The reason for this is that your site uses AMP, which is a specific technique of building websites. It is not compatible with many ad codes.

If you don’t know what AMP is then I would suggest not using it since it requires some technical skill to know what works and what doesn’t and you will always run into limitations.

If you want to use it then you can take a look at the tutorial about amazon ads on AMP.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Thanks for all your help, I nearly have this sorted. I’m having two issues with my amazon banner ads. First the full ad displays on my homepage, but is cut off on the bottom on my internal pages. Second, the banner does not shrink down to the same scale as the text in mobile view.

A general question, is it possible to set the ad placements on each page independently rather than say after paragraph 4 site-wide? Haven’t been able to find that in the options.

Thanks again, you’ve be supremely helpful.

    Hi there,

    > First the full ad displays on my homepage, but is cut off on the bottom on my internal pages.

Did you find a solution or remove the ad because I am not seeing an ad in that position on single pages.

    > Second, the banner does not shrink down to the same scale as the text in mobile view.

I see that the banner has a size of 728×90. That size seems to be scaled down automatically on mobile though the content is still delivered as 728×90. It is normal that ads loaded from an ad network don’t adjust well automatically unless they are explicitly “responsive” ads. If Amazon doesn’t have such a format then you could create one ad for desktop and a smaller version on mobile. You can use the “device” display condition on the ad edit screen in Advanced Ads for that, then group the two ads together and deliver that group through the placement so only one of them is showing up.

    > is it possible to set the ad placements on each page independently

Yes. If you are using the block editor then just look for the “Advanced Ads” block to get a select field for the ad. You can also use the ad’s shortcode given below the name of the ad on ad edit pages.

Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Hi @scottholmes,

I just wanted to check in and see if you have any other questions.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

@webzunft Thomas, I had Amazon Recommended Grid ad working fine, then I unknowingly “broke” it using the flag feature. (I thought the purpose of the flag feature was to mark certain products as not relevant so the ad would remove and replace with another product, but apparently that’s not the purpose.) Anyway, after using flag to click not relevant a couple times, the ad stopped working completely. I have a Recommended Strip ad that still works, but even creating a new Recommended Grid ad does not work at all. (does not display anything) I’m guessing something needs to be “reset” for Recommeneded Grid ad to function again. Any ideas?

    Any help is much appreciated!

    Hi @mikee68,

thanks for reaching out. Please open a new thread so that I can attend to your question. Please also include what you mean by “flag” since we don’t have a feature called that in Advanced Ads.

    Thanks,
    Thomas
