Hey – I am using Amazon S3 on multiple sites with no issues. Today I went to add another site and I am getting the error below. I checked another site of mine which has a successful backup as of yesterday and that also has the same issue today where it doesn’t work. I saw some issues with dropbox authentication – maybe the issue is related.

0416.134 (1) Amazon S3: Error: Failed to access bucket ******. UpdraftPlus_S3::getBucket(): [AuthorizationHeaderMalformed] The authorization header is malformed; the region ‘us-east-1’ is wrong; expecting ‘us-east-2’ (line: 403, file: /home/*****.cloudwaysapps.com/*****/public_html/wp-content/plugins/updraftplus/includes/S3.php)

Thanks – yes I tried a different bucket name. I also didn’t change anything in S3 recently and like I mentioned the issue is same on a site that backed up fine 2 days ago (I didn’t change anything on that site either)

    Hi

It appears the number of issues of this kind are growing, I have some in premium support too.
That will help us to find the cause and solution as we’re quite restricted here in what we can do.

I’m now going to contact the developers and ask them to take a closer look at the problem here.
With premium support customers we have access to installs, etc. which is very useful for analysis.

I’ll update as soon as I can get some news.

    Best regards,

    Nick

    Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience, the developers are now testing for solutions to the issue.
There’s a potential fix identified, I’ll update you as soon as I can confirm it’s working.

    Best regards,

    Nick

I am also seeing this error in the past 2 days for all of the websites I host and manage that use UpdraftPlus for backups and offloading files to Amazon S3. Everything was working perfectly up until about 2 days ago and nothing has changes in the plugin settings nor in Amazon. Looking forward to updates here regarding the progress toward releasing an update with the fix for this issue. Thanks!
