• Just got an email from AWS stating that they’ll deprecate Signature Version 3 for SES on September 30, 2020.

The Secret Access Key field featured on the settings page of this plugin suggests that it uses Signature Version 3.

When do you plan to migrate this plugin to Signature Version 4?

    Hi @mondalaci,

we are planning to switch to the official AWS PHP SDK library in one of the future plugin updates, definitely before the end of September.

This will guarantee that the requests are signed correctly with the new signature version 4.

The plugin settings will remain the same since the “Access Key ID” and “Secret Access Key” are needed to produce the new signature as well. They are just used differently to generate the v4 signature.

Thank you very much for the review and have a nice day!

    Hi @capuderg,
I was looking for info about the same issue and is great to know that the update is gonna to release before the end of support of Signature Version 3.

Could you disclose if September update will keep the compatibility for WordPress 4.9 and php 5.5 or will have different requirement?

    Thanks!

    Hi Marco,

the Amazon SES mailer is only available in the Pro version of our plugin and its minimal required PHP version is 5.6. The WordPress minimal version will most probably still be 4.9.

    Take care!
