• My site has a AMP version available for any page or post that is incompatible with AMP. This plugin does not seem compatible with AMP because it does not work on my site when it is showing the AMP version of my site on cell phones or tablets.
People are able to copy anything they want.
I have had this plugin well over a year now paying every month. It is awesome, I just want it to be AMP compatible.

    Hi Tasha,

Thanks for this useful feedback and for being a loyal user. AMP is difficult for us because AMP-compliance means not using Javascript. As we explain in our FAQ:

“= Note on Support for AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) =

Tested only with the AMP plugin by Automattic. Note the copy-protect function is limited to preventing user selection due to AMP guidelines on limiting/eliminating Javascript.”

Which AMP plugin do you use (and at what release) for displaying your amp pages? Before next release we will review what may be possible in this area

Hello, I have AMP plugin by automatic. I use the 2020 theme for my AMP pages when a page is not AMP compatible. I see what you are saying about the Java. Which AMP does copyprotect support? I do not mind changing to secure my site.

    Hi Tasha,

Yes you have summarised the situation well.

Important: Have you checked that your mobile device(s) are not logged into WordPress (in which case the copy-protect function will not operate)?

We will look into it a bit further to see if there are ways to make the mobile environment more resistant to content-copy.

Do please take note and remember that when you publish something on the internet, it becomes available to a determined / tech-savvy hacker and no plugin can change that. We make this clear in the “Important Note” shown in the CopyrightProof settings / Copy-Protect tab:

Selecting this option will prevent a user without edit privileges from right-clicking on your web-page (in order to view the source), selecting content (in order to copy to clipboard), or pressing CTRL/U (to view the source) in most browsers. This may prevent the unauthorised use of your content by unsophisticated users, but will be a small nuisance to a determined content thief. This is as good as it gets on the web – DO NOT BELIEVE the claims of some other plugin authors that your content cannot be stolen…
When testing please note that this restriction will not operate on logged-in users with edit privileges.

    Hi Tasha,

We did some further checks on the plugin and it seemed to work OK. This included using a tablet to access the page you pointed us to. Is it an AMP page? It seemed to behave like a non-AMP page. There was a slight delay after a page appears before the protection kicks in, otherwise it worked.

    Regards

    Tasha,

A further update: we tested with the latest version (2.0.10) of the “official” AMP plugin and it worked. This included testing with copy-protection on and off, with desktop and tablet.

Let us know if you are still encountering issues.

Thank you guys for the awesomely fast customer service, faster than I can read and reply! I appreciate it.
When I browse “incognito” on my android phone using Chrome, I am still faced with the same situations. However, I do have a choice. My post and pages that I do not want copied, I do not allow them to use AMP mode. THis way, this content stays safe.
I know things can still get copied, but it’s nice to pay to make it a little harder for those wanting to. Especially when I post things in my store, curriculum and books we have worked hard on, and created the perfect thumbnail or picture.
    Thus, we simply add “Preview”.
I was thinking, Amazon has certain pictures of products that cannot be copied, and if you do, it’s never a real copy, it’s still a website-like copy that cannot be altered or brung into a editor. Will you guys in the future have something similar? That’s definitely worth the penny! Just throwing that out there. You have all done a great job already.
I’m going to check and see if there is an update on my plugin to make sure everything’s adding up to your experimentations. If it’s updated, well, I guess that’s it.
We do appreciate your help. God bless you!

Hi Tasha, thank you for the complements (blush). If you would like to leave a Review that would be appreciated.

    One final thing to check:
On AMP pages, our plugin uses css user-select to prevent users selecting content. On the “Can I Use This” website https://caniuse.com it says that Chrome for Android supports this setting from Chrome 87 onwards. You could check to see what version of Chrome you have on that phone.

Re plugin updates, there is a version 4.14 on the way but it doesn’t have anything that would help you.

Good point about images. We do have something good in the works in relation to protecting images probably a couple of months away…
