I am having some issues with AMP, when I use chrome incognito on desktop my site will sometimes display the mobile version of my site not even the desktop version or the amp version.

At the moment on non incognito chrome my site isn’t functioning – not sure if these issues are related.

When I am logged into wordpress I see the desktop version of my site no problem.

Can anybody pls give me some advice?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • As you seem to be using a theme that features it’s own AMP templates there may also be configurations that are impacting how your site is served. Have you tried resetting your themes AMP configurations to the default settings? From testing your site the homepage seems to be fully AMP, maybe there is a setting that you’ve enabled for this. If you’d like to share your Site Health information via this form I can check the plugins and theme you have active.

Hi thank you very much I have just completed the form, not sure if I got the correct error log though – let me know

Many thanks for sharing. I noticed a caching plugin tied with your hosting provider. This may be impacted how your site is rendering. Your theme also features some additional AMP specific features which we can investigate further. For the moment can you first of all temporarily deactivate your A2 Optimized WP plugin, before I check your site once more?

I’ll also review some of your theme specific features in the meantime and see if I can determine any configuration that may be impacting your site.

Hi thanks, I have disabled the A2 Optimized WP plugin, this plugin does have a caching option, which I disabled a few months back.

There was also another caching plugin installed on the site, A2 Fixed W3 Total Cache. This hasn’t been enabled for a few months & is still deactivated.

    Many thanks,
    Richard

Many thanks for performing those checks and providing an update. From checking your canonical site at present it now loads as expected in the various browser tested I’ve performed. Can you also confirm the same from your side?

If you can confirm all looks good you can review the A2 plugin settings.

Hi, many thanks, all looks good at the moment.

Could you offer any advice what I need to be looking for with the A2 plugin settings?

Or alternatively a different approach to keeping my site speedy and secure?

While I haven’t checked the A2 plugin myself just yet I will do so at some stage today. In the meantime have you tried resetting the plugin to the default configuration or alternatively do you recall any particular setting you applied?

    Hi,
I don’t see any options to reset the plugin, as far as any settings I adjusted I think only enabling gzip on the A2 plugin. I bought the site about 4 months ago so most of this was setup already, I didn’t notice if anything was wrong at the time, tho I did adjust the AMP settings slightly by setting mobile visitors to be redirected to amp version. I kept it in transitional mode.

Thanks for the update. I’ve just tested the same A2 plugin and I didn’t encounter the same issue. As you’re active theme features it’s own AMP integration there may be some configurations that resulted in this issue on your side.

Can you reenable the A2 plugin once more while I again check your site. I don’t see an option to reset the A2 plugin settings however if the issue persists we can check each option one by one.

hi thanks, I have re-enabled the A2 plugin now

Great! All looks good now from the checks I performed. Can you check from your side using various browser sessions, including Chrome’s incognito browsing?

    (@rickyrt)

I have had a look can’t see any issues at the moment

While it’s great that the issue no longer persists I can’t be sure what caused it. It may have been an caching policy or configuration conflict. I’ll keep this support topic open for a few days if you wish, checking back with you next week to ensure all is working as expected?

yes please keep it open, lets see what happens over the next few days, thanks again for all your help

Hi James, I was just checking it again this morning, it is again showing me the desktop site on both chrome & incognito chrome.

I have since installed cloudflare – but imagine this should be ok

Could you send me the link of the site you use to see the site on different browsers/devices
